Learning to Fly Fish (once again...)

John and I are often dismayed at the lack of people out on the water in the winter- especially since we had such incredibly mild weather the last few months.

We have been wanting to learn to fly fish since we bought the resort and even took a continuing education class offered at ASU- Mtn. Home back in 2008 BF (before the flood). We never actually got out on the water after that to try our hand at it...until this past week when our resident fly fishing instructor Ron offered to show us the ropes and motivated us to go through all the steps from assembly of our rods, to practice casting in our field, and then "on the water" instruction on the gravel bar just below the campground.

The weather on Thursday was a gorgeous 77 degrees, but it was really windy so we were challenged (in a good way).

I landed a baby brown and John got a rainbow. That didn't even matter so much as the fact that we were out on the water and enjoying the best this area has to offer!

Call us to arrange a class for yourself the next time you visit.

Brush Off Your Binoculars...

I thought I would continue the thread from my post on bald eagles for all you bird enthusiasts and bring it down a notch or two to feature some of the more common species found at and around the resort. All these pictures were sent to us by our customers.
A morning...afternoon...or evening watching these winged-wonders from the front porch of your cabin is a whole lot better than any time spent in front of the television!
